Your Ceremony Sound Should Be Flawless!
You deserve clean, clear sound coverage. When you speak, your voice should be heard by all your guests without cutting out. Music should be perfectly timed. At your wedding ceremony, in my strong opinion, this is non-negotiable.
Nothing hurts my heart more than hearing stories from couples who attended a wedding ceremony that was riddled with audio issues. Or couples that talk about how nobody could hear the vows. In those stories, those couples described the moment with words like, “awkward”, “frustrating”, and “ruined the moment”.
I won’t lie to you - I haven’t gotten it 100% perfect every time. At one wedding, it was so hot the groom sweat through his suit onto the mic. At another, the band started sound checks with their microphones during the Ceremony without checking that they weren’t operating on my frequencies. Both times, I grabbed my backup mic on its stand, quickly carried it in from the side, and switched the audio source on my iPad. In less than 30 seconds, both weddings were back to having crystal clear sound.
Wait, if your wedding is supposed to be perfect, why am I telling you this? The truth? Even as a professional, I cannot guarantee perfection. Bizarre things happen - I’ve worked through sudden downpours, power outages, strong gusts of wind, heat waves, and more. But, this I can guarantee…
Aside from very rare, uncontrollable circumstances, your sound will be flawless and uninterrupted. Very common circumstances - your videographer using separate wireless mics, radio/cell phone interference, even interference from nearby events - aren’t a concern for me. Even if I’m 100 feet away, that won’t be the cause of a single dropout.
I spared no expense. I use performance grade wireless systems, directional long range antenna, kevlar lined lapels, a feedback eliminating digital mixer, and offline downloads of all your special songs. At every event I scan frequencies to find which ones are open without interference, thereby eliminating the largest source of unwanted dropouts. If you like to geek out on the technicals, my Ceremony kit includes the following:
Shure QLXD and SLXD wireless systems with a directional antenna fin
Lapels made by Countryman and Shure
Soundcraft UI16 Digital Mixer
Since my system is so reliable, I can focus on the details. If we’re inside, I’ll eliminate problem frequencies, allowing your voice to be heard clearly. If we’re outside, I’ll reduce any wind noise. On the music side, I can extend and smoothly fade songs - there won’t be awkward silence for anyone walking down the aisle and there won’t be any jarring, abrupt changes in music.
And for the 1% of days where something unpredictable happens, I have backups on hand, ready at a moment’s notice.
